Friday Coffee Break: June 7, 2019

I realized the only things I’ve posted on the blog and stuff lately are the Friday Five so I’ve decided to do something a little different this week. . .

Instead of sharing 5 things from around the web with you, I’m going to share 5 things going on in my world right now. And I would love to hear what’s going on in yours, too! So feel free to comment on the post below.

We’ve been having issues with our router for the past few weeks so I’ve been having to reset it about twice a day. . . until this week. For the last few days, I’ve had to reset it every 15-20 minutes! So, yesterday I finally got our ISP tech support people to agree that SOMETHING IS WRONG! And they’re sending us a new router but it’s going to take a 3-4 days to get here. In the meantime, I’ll be over here pulling my hair out.

In other news, my #3 kiddo is graduating high school tonight!!! WITH HONORS! I’m so proud of her. She’s made some amazing strides in the last 4 years. At the recent Spring band concert, her band teacher honored all the graduating seniors and she said my daughter “is one of the most talented musicians I’ve ever met.”

For the past several years I’ve been using the Genesis Framework to build websites for myself and my clients but I recently switched to some tools that I’m really loving the simplicity and ease of using.

Power Duo: Astra Pro theme (and plugin) from Brainstorm Force and the Beaver Builder* plugin.

Now, I’m not giving up Genesis entirely – there WILL be client projects that will be better suited to using Genesis but I have a lot of clients who like to “tinker” with things and I think Astra and Beaver Builder are going to be great tools to allow them to do that.

Speaking of web design – I *do* have a couple of openings for the month of June. If you’re in need of a new or redesigned website, get in touch. I just rebuilt my design website and moved it back to it’s own domain. There are still a few tweaks I need to do here and there and I need to add some of the recent sites I’ve built to the portfolio but that’s about it. Go check it out!

(By the way – I always test things for my client’s websites on my own sites so if you ever see anything around here or over at DBB that look wonky, just know I’m probably testing something for a client site! LOL)

Very, very soon I’ll be adding a store to the One Generation Peace Project website!! You’ll be able to buy OGPP swag plus quote t-shirts and more. I had intended to have it completed this week but with all the internet issues, I haven’t been able to. I’ve spent more time FIXING the internet connection than anything else around here this week!

Ok! That’s it for now. 😉

I’d love to hear what’s up in your world lately so feel free to leave a comment below!
