The Friday Five: April 15, 2016

This week has been about catching up and diving into everything that’s opened up over the past few weeks and to be honest, I almost said hell with it and didn’t write this post today. I’ve been so focused elsewhere that I just wasn’t sure what to highlight in this issue. . . and then it came to me! So let’s dive right in. . .

If you’re an avid note-taker or you read a lot or are an info junkie or anything of the sort, this resource is for you! I came across it in a group on Facebook earlier this week and knew I had to check it out. I have notes upon notes upon notes and I’ve been searching for a great way to keep them all together and organized. Well, this system is it! Meet the “Commonplace Book” method.

Perhaps you’ve heard of mindmapping but aren’t quite sure what it is. . . In short, it’s an abstract outline concept used to visually organize information. I learned mindmapping years ago from it’s original creator, Tony Buzan and back then, there wasn’t much info on it. But today there are loads of books and materials and even software/apps dedicated to it. My favorite online tool for mindmapping is http://lucidchart.com and you can also check out http://mindmeister.com If you’ve never done a mindmap before, I strongly encourage you to do several by hand on paper before using an online tool.

Yesterday in my private FB group, was Tech Training day and I posted a short note on minimizing security vulnerabilities in WordPress. I’ve created an Evernote that I’ve made public for you to check out – Three Ways to Minimize Security Vulnerabilities in WordPress.

A couple of days ago, I came across this site – http://videofruit.com/ – and if you’re looking for ways to build your email list, create a product or launch your product, I recommend checking it out. Lots of good info there and it’s a clean and simple website with no fluff. This guy does it right!

And last this week, I want to share two posts I wrote yesterday – one is on my public Facebook page and the other is a post here on my blog – The Four Stages of Visionary Leadership.

Have a fantastic weekend, Rockstars! I’ll be hanging out with my family and celebrating my son’s 18th birthday!! OMG So surreal to think that in a few days, I’ll have TWO kiddos who are adults! As they say – two down, two to go!
