Consider this story from my own life and see if perhaps something similar is a big reason for you. . .

I’ve always been a voracious reader. Ever since I can remember, I’ve read everything I could get my hands on, from the time I started reading at age 3.

And over the past 15 years or so, I’ve read pretty much every book in the self-development, spirituality, and business genres. It would probably be easier to name the books I haven’t read!

In fact, until this year, I usually read about 10 books per week. Yes, per week! No joke.

But something happened late in 2016 – I just stopped reading. And since January this year, I’ve only read 2 books.

For a while, I was struggling to figure out why. What changed? What happened that I basically quit reading, cold turkey? It baffled me. And quite frankly, I was kinda scared to admit I’d stopped.

You know what, though? The truth is, I know exactly why I quit reading. . .

We are SO overloaded with information in this day and age that we’ve lost sight of what comes after knowledge – action and implementation.

We’ve lost connection with the things that truly matter – ourselves and each other.

And then we wonder why things aren’t moving forward. We wonder why our lives are lacking. Why we feel so unfilled.

It’s because we’re so disconnected from TRUTH that we don’t even know what truth is anymore. We don’t truly know and understand what integrity is. What purpose is. What love is.

So, how I can be advocate for peace, for love, for freedom if I’m disconnected?

I can’t.

And that’s why I quit reading so much.

But I was hanging onto it because I thought it somehow defined me.

What about you?

What are YOU hanging to just because you think it defines you? Are you ready to let it go?
