Welcome to the first edition of the Friday Five! It’s a weekly roundup of Five Things I’ve read, heard or seen this week that I feel would be of benefit to you.
Last weekend, I received an email in my inbox from someone in the WordPress design/development community and it contained a link to this very well thought out piece by John O’Nolan called The Price of Success. And since we’re all entrepreneurs finding our way, becoming more visible and creating success for ourselves, I thought it was worth passing on to you.
Also in that email was a second link to a post by Russel Brand called My Life Without Drugs that is an incredible reminder just how close each of us is to destruction and temptation. If you’ve ever loved or lost anyone with an addiction or you’ve been there yourself, please read it.
It’s a post that hits very close to home for me. See, you might not know – my big sister died of a drug overdose in 1997 when I was 24 years old.
In a world of ever increasing “need” for productivity and belonging and fitting in, there’s one thing I’d love for you to understand – It’s Not About Productivity – It’s About Living Purposefully. It’s a short read and well worth your time.
You know, the beginning of this week was pretty rough for me and so a few days ago, a friend of mine sent me this link and said “When I saw this, I thought of you” – go take a look. (However, if the word “fuck” offends you, you might not want to.)
And last for this week is some motivation I think we can all use sometimes! Go read Derek Halpern’s Five Little Magic Words.
